I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my book is in the display case just outside the Beaverbrook Library (Campeau Drive) in Kanata. It is part of a display about 'back to school'. Have a look!

Emial Gina directly if you can help with the following:
I am looking for a picture of SS 22 Chingacousy schoolhouse. It was on the corner of Bovaird and Number 10, in now what is Brampton. My Mother and all her 9 siblings went there. They where taught by Mossie Bovaird. I have tried the Bovaird house and Peel Archives and no one has a picture of it. My mothers family are all deceased so I have no way of getting this picture. Thanks for any help Gina [email protected] What a wonderful afternoon I spent at the Russell Historical Society fair in Russell last Saturday! I was invited to be the keynote speaker and there was such an engaging audience. One teacher, one of her students, and many other people who had attended one-room schools were in attendance. I even sold 17 books! (only 35 left of 2,000) One former student admitted putting frogs under the school bell. When the teacher went to ring it, she got quite a surprise! I encourage people to check out the Keith Boyd Museum in Russell. It is a little historical gem!
Can anyone help???
I'm looking for who to contact to track down information about a one-room school house formerly in Ennismore, Ontario. We think the building might have burned down several years ago. Any leads you could suggest would be most helpful. Thanks. Peter Today I stumbled across an abandoned school house on McKenna Side Road, just north of Roger Stevens Drive and west of Dwyer Hill Rd. I can't seem to find any information about this building, other than it's owned by the Ministry of Natural Resources. The structure appears to date from the early 1900s, and judging by the overgrowth was abandoned at least 50 years ago. However, the building remains open as a public shelter and the interior is in good condition. There's a wood stove, original cupboard, and chalkboard. I can send you pics.
Do you have any historical information about this school house, or any info that could point me to a search in the archives? I'm more familiar with Lanark County (where I live), and this school is just over the Montague Twp line and out of my usual research zone. I'll continue to do some digging. Thanks! Jordan Do you have any of you have any information on the old Ross school on Foresters Falls Road south of Cobden?
I just received the following message:
Hello I am looking for information on Mulloy School in Mountain Ontario.(I believe it may be S.S.No. 11). My great great grandfather was George Mulloy who lived in Mountain. Can you give me an assistance? Thank you very much. Sue Lewis Hello. Is anyone interested in selling their Diamond Jubilee Confederation wall plaque? If so please let me know.
Kind regards, Janet I received the following email today. Can anyone help?
My name is Caitlyn Howard and I am doing some research on Lot 6, Concession 11, Mountain Township. According to the Abstract of Deeds, there was a school on the property (S.S.14), that appears to have later been used as a residence. The property is on French Settlement Road, but the building has recently been torn down. I am looking for any information I can find about the school. I see that you, too, are lacking in information about Mountain township. If you happen to have learned anymore about this particular school, would you please pass the information on to me? In turn, if I manage to find any info or pictures of the school, I will be happy to send them your way. Thank you very much for your time. Sincerely, Caitlyn Howard Patricia is looking for pictures of a one room school house in Havelock, Ontario. The school's name was Preneveau School in Havelock and the year she's looking for is about 1913.
Hope you can help. |
