How exciting it was to receive the book "Britannia School and School Farm...and My School Days" as told by Benson A. Madill! He started at S.S. No. 12 Toronto Township in 1921. The Britannia School opened in 1852 in the Toronto Township in present day Mississauga. In 1959 is closed and was restored in 1982 for classes. The School Yell was as follows:
Blue and gold, blue and gold,
These are the colours we shall hold.
Razzle, dazzle, siz boom bah,
Number 12 Toronto, rah, rah, rah!
In 1939, and oak tree was awarded to the school from Windsor Castle to commemorate the year of George VI and Queen Elizabeth's visit to Canada. In 1989, the present Queen Elizabeth sent another your Oak tree from Windsor Castle to mark the fiftieth anniversary of that Royal Visit.
